Make Feta and Chevre with Linda Smith
Linda Smith retired this summer and we are lucky to be milking three Sherman Hill Goats here at East Branch. Linda raised and milked her goats for over thirty years in Franklin NY, selling her cheese at the Pakatakan Farmers Market, Callicoon Farmers Market, Good Cheap Food, Delhi, etc.. and the only goat cheese we cooked with at Kimchee Harvest Kitchen was Linda's.
Two simple and easy cheeses to make with Linda are feta and chevre. Book now for a hands on workshop to meet the goats and make your own cheese to take home. I took a cheesemaking class at Sherman Hill a while back and I kinda remember the cheese but clearly remember how Linda handled the milk, approached the cooling and heating of the milk and the general ease and comfort of learning from someone with farmstead experience(farmstead=farms milk to added value product).
Class size is limited to 8 people and lunch and tea is provided. Linda will provide handouts and confidence.
Equipment and ingredients are provided, please bring your own apron, hat and gloves.
